Admission Criteria: Secure Hospital – Low Secure Unit
(For Therapeutically Enhanced Secure Service and Women’s Enhanced Secure Service)
The patient:
- Has a primary diagnosis of Learning Disability (LD). Most service users will fall under mild or moderate LD although referrals will still be considered for those with severe LD
- Presents with severe challenging behaviour
- May also have complex mental health needs
- Is detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 and requires a period of highly specialised assessment and treatment under conditions of low security
- Requires high levels of procedural and relational security
- Is aged 18 or over
- Is male or female
- May also have a forensic history
