Cedar House, Canterbury, Kent

Cedar House is a modern, purpose-built 44-bed independent Secure Hospital for adults with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour who are detained under the Mental Health Act.

The Hospital, which opened in 2000, provides
Therapeutically Enhanced Secure Services in a low secure environment for both men and women.  It also includes a Rehabilitation / Step Down unit for patients who require less secure accommodation, allowing them to develop gradual and greater exposure to more independent living with increased access to community facilities and amenities.  It is situated on an eight-acre campus in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is built on a hillside with wonderful views across the Barham Downs.

Patient accommodation is provided in two 8-bed bungalows and four houses. Facilities on site include a purpose-built Supported Learning Centre with activity rooms, a games room and a large gymnasium, as well as a hard surface all-weather play area and a range of horticultural and recreational amenities within the attractively landscaped grounds.

The Hospital is registered with the Healthcare Commission and accepts patients aged between 18 and 65.
