Induction programme
To help you settle into your new role with Care Principles, we will ensure you receive a full induction programme during your first few weeks with us. The programme is designed to equip you with the fundamental and statutory knowledge required about Care Principles, your department and your role.
Our induction programme is accredited and certificated by the Open College Network and fully meets the needs of the National Care Standards Act 2000.
Additional induction programme for direct contact roles
If your role with us will involve direct contact with patients or residents, we will also ask you to attend a three-week continuous programme that follows the Learning Disabilities Award Framework (LDAF).
The Programme consists of the following modules:
‘Working with people who have learning disabilities’ Level 2 units:
- Safe practitioner (introductory level)
- Understanding learning disability
- Abuse awareness
- Positive communication
- Supporting someone with epilepsy
- Advocacy awareness
Certificated training:
- Conflict management
- Physical intervention
- Health & safety
- Infection control awareness
- Food handling & hygiene
- Appointed persons First Aid
Training delivered by Care Principles’ employees:
- Anti-discriminatory and non-oppressive practice
- Understanding and responding to behaviours that challenge
- Role-specific training and orientation to a multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment environment
- Fire awareness
- Work-based, supernumery orientation and supervised practice
