Ashley House

Ashley House is a low secure hospital offering specialist assessment and treatment for adults with learning or developmental disabilities or behavioural problems, challenging behaviour or autistic spectrum disorder, or for those with forensic histories. Individually tailored care plans and a wide range of specialised individual and group treatments and community access programmes are designed to help patients develop a range of coping skills, build self-esteem and confidence and move on to less restrictive environments.

Treatments and services include:

  • A free-of-charge pre-admission assessment
  • Tailored care and treatment programmes, including individual and group therapies, delivered within a well-established, evidence-based psychological model of care
  • A range of individually structured physical, therapeutic and learning activities
  • Regular risk assessment and relapse prevention work
  • On-site advocacy services
  • Structured care pathways with the aim of leading to step down and community integration (where appropriate)

Service users:

Men and women aged 18 and upwards who require accomodation in a low secure environment who:

  • Have a learning disability (with or without autistic spectrum disorders)
  • Display challenging behaviour
  • Have behavioural difficulties
  • Have a forensic history
  • Are detained under the Mental Health Act

Facilities include:

  • Spacious communal areas
  • A large, attractive garden with horticultural areas
  • A fully-equipped learning centre
  • A large, bright gymnasium
