Cedar House

Cedar House is a low secure hospital that provides a specialist service to adults with a primary diagnosis of a learning disability.

The hospital aims to provide a high quality, person-centred care pathway and evidence-based approach to assessment, formulation, treatment, rehabilitation and recovery.

Treatments and services include:

  • A comprehensive clinical pre-admission assessment
  • Individually tailored assessment and treatment programmes, delivered within a well-established, evidence-based psychological model including index-offence related programmes
  • Individual and group treatments
  • Risk assessment and prevention of relapse
  • Individual daily timetables providing patients with a therapeutically-orientated structure throughout the day

Service users

Men and women aged 18 – 65 who:

  • Have a learning disability (with or without Autistic Spectrum Condition)
  • Have challenging and / or offending behaviours
  • Are detained under the Mental Health Act
  • Have a secondary diagnosis of personality disorder or mental illness

Facilities

  • 40 individual bedrooms in bungalows and houses
  • The opportunity to accommodate individuals' complex needs in a bespoke service
  • A spacious education, rehabilitation and skills development centre which includes, in addition to a number of therapy rooms and classrooms, a games room, large gymnasium and outdoor hard court for sports
  • Spacious communal, leisure & recreational area
  • A large, attractive secure garden with horticultural areas, including a woodland walk
