Beech House

Beech House is a low secure hospital that provides highly-specialised assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for adults with learning disabilities/ autistic spectrum conditions, mental health needs and challenging behaviour, or for those with a forensic history or who may have been detained under the Mental Health Act. To ensure a high quality of life for patients, this small hospital places a strong emphasis on community inclusion and, where appropriate, a care pathway through to greater community integration.

Treatments and services include:

  • A free-of-charge clinical pre-admission assessment
  • Tailored care and treatment programmes, including individual and group therapies, delivered within a well-established, evidence-based psychological model of care
  • A range of individually structured physical, therapeutic and learning activities
  • Regular risk assessments and relapse prevention work
  • On-site advocacy services
  • Structured care pathways with the aim of leading to step-down and community integration (where appropriate)

Service users

Men and women aged 18 and upwards who require accomodation in a low secure environment who:

  • Have a personality disorder, learning disability, develomental disorder or autistic spectrum disorder
  • Display challenging and/or offending behaviours
  • Have behavioural difficulties
  • Have a forensic history
  • Are detained under the Mental Health Act

  • A range of horticultural activities within attractive and well maintained grounds, including a sensory garden
  • A fully-equipped learning centre with activity rooms and gymnasium
